I came into the office this morning planning to write a nice, little review of the current state of Windows 7, but the first thing on the web that I read was that Windows XP support runs out next week. To be honest, we all knew that this was coming. Microsoft should not be expected to support its old operating systems eternally, but I do have a problem with the timing of this. Although you might not be able to buy a new retail copy of Windows XP (except for old stock, etc), you can still buy a new system with the downgrade to XP. Read More

Web standards are there for a reason!
Imagine this scenario… You walk into a library to find a book on programming in PHP. You head to the card catalogue (ok, if you are looking for a programming book, you are probably going to use the library’s computer to search, but work with me here) and start thumbing through the cards. You notice something odd. The cards are sorted by the base colour of the cover of the book. You look around for another index, perhaps based on subject matter, but only find one based on number of pages in the book.
If you are really determined, you wander through the bookshelves in hopes of finding the Computers, Programming section. Instead, you see Blue, Green, Red, Mauve, etc. . . . Out of Character Offshoots
For some time, I’ve wanted a forum to discuss things that come to mind that don’t necessarily relate to my in-world persona (Victorian Steampunk in Caledon). Sometimes, I just want to be me. I enjoy ranting and raving and going off at the mouth. But that’s not really Newbe and it certainly isn’t appropriate for my in-character blog: writersteamworks.wordpress.com. Well, this is where you will find me being generally OOC.
I expect that this blog might go off on various tangents. It won’t always be happy, friendly or nice. It will discuss esoteric things, such as string theory or why I don’t like purple (but must learn to tolerate it).
So, let the games begin.
PS: Newbelius is pronounced as New’Bee’Lee’Us
